OTCBB Stocks Setting 52-Week Highs on Thursday: NEOP, PRWP, PTQMF, WDDD, AVXL

Several companies trading on the OTCBB set 52-week highs on Thursday with a handful of those companies improving on new highs set Wednesday. Among the companies posting new highs were Neoprobe Corporation (NEOP), Pro-Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (PRWP), Petaquilla Minerals (PTQMF), Worlds.Com, Inc. (WDDD), and Anavex Life Sciences (AVXL).

Neoprobe Corporation (NEOP) matched their 52-week high of 2.47 set yesterday before closing the day at 2.32, slightly higher than where they ended the day on Wednesday. The company, which engages in the development and commercialization of surgical and diagnostic products that enhance patient care by meeting the decision making needs of physicians in the United States and internationally, has two diagnostic drugs in phase 3 clinical trials that are close to completion with new drug applications. Shares are currently trading above the 50-day moving average of 1.95 and 200-day moving average of 1.84.

Pro-Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (PRWP) set a 52-week high for the third consecutive day after hitting 1.25 on Thursday, a 0.01 bounce from yesterday’s mark. Shares in the company, which engages in the discovery and development of therapeutics for the treatment of cancer, liver, microbial, and inflammatory diseases, closed at 1.20 which is still comfortably ahead of the 50-day moving average of 0.78 and 200-day moving average of 0.70.

Petaquilla Minerals (PTQMF) saw their 52-week high of 1.23 set yesterday eclipsed by a 1.34 high on Thursday before shares closed at 1.25 on the day. On Monday the company announced they had closed a $32 million private placement. Shares in the company, which engages in the production, exploration, and development of mineral properties in Panama, are ahead of the 50-day moving average of 1.05 and their 200-day moving average of 0.60.

Worlds.Com Inc (WDDD) saw nearly 9x their average trading volume on Thursday as shares climbed to a 52-week high of 0.34 before closing at 0.30. Shares in the company, designs and develops software content and related technologies for the creation of interactive, three-dimensional (3D) Internet sites on the World Wide Web, are well above the 50-day moving average of 0.11 and 200-day moving average of 0.10.

Anavex Life Sciences (AVXL) shares climbed to 4.36 on Thursday to set a new 52-week high before closing at 4.20 following more than 2x its average trading volume. Last week the company, which is engaged in the discovery and development of novel drug candidates for the treatment of neurological diseases and cancer, announced that their drug ANAVEX 2-73 had been named 2010′s “most promising trial drug” by the editorial staff at Alzheimer’s Weekly. Shares are currently ahead of their 50-day moving average of 3.88 and 200-day moving average of 3.44.
