A number of companies trading on the OTCBB managed to set 52-week highs on Wednesday with a couple of those companies coming off a Tuesday in which they set those benchmarks. Included in the list of companies posting new highs was El Capitan Precious Metals (ECPN), Neoprobe Corporation (NEOP), Pro-Pharmaceuticals (PRWP), Petaquilla Minerals (PTQMF), and Lightning Science Group (PMUG)
El Capitan Precious Metals, Inc. (ECPN) set a 52-week high of 1.12 during yesterday’s trading and then came back and did it again on Wednesday as shares climbed to a new high of 1.57 before closing at 1.20 with more than 3.6 million shares trading hands, well above the average trading volume of 159,452. The company, which engages in the exploration of precious metals and other minerals in the southwestern United States, is comfortably ahead of their 50-day moving average of 0.57 and 200-day moving average of 0.47.
Neoprobe Corporation (NEOP) shot to a 52-week high of 2.47 on Wednesday as investors have begun to take notice of the company which has two diagnostic drugs in phase 3 clinical trials that are close to completion with new drug applications. Shares closed at 2.30 on the day after more than 1.5 million shares were traded, more than 5x their average trading volume. The company, which engages in the development and commercialization of surgical and diagnostic products that enhance patient care by meeting the decision making needs of physicians in the United States and internationally, is ahead of its 50-day moving average of 1.97 and 200-day moving average of 1.84.
Pro-Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (PRWP), like ECPN, set their 52-week high on Tuesday only to come back on Wednesday and post a new mark as shares climbed to 1.24 before closing at 1.20. On Monday the company announced they had received positive feedback from the FDA in regards to their DAVANAT Phase III clinical trial designed to treat patients with colorectal cancer. More than 2x the average trading volume took place on Wednesday and shares are now well ahead of the 50-day moving average of 0.77 and 200-day moving average of 0.69.
Petaquilla Minerals (PTQMF) pushed their way to a new 52-week high of 1.23 on Wednesday, two days after announcing the closing of a $32 million private placement. Shares in the company, which engages in the production, exploration, and development of mineral properties in Panama, closed at 1.22 on the day and are ahead of the 50-day moving average of 1.04 and 200-day moving average of 0.59.
Lighting Science Group Corporation (LSCG) announced on Tuesday plans to hire 50 new employees and on Wednesday that news helped push shares to a new 52-week high of 4.44 before closing at 4.35. Shares in the company, which engages in the research, design, development, manufacture, and marketing of various lighting devices and systems that use light emitting diodes (LED) as the light source primarily in the United States and the Netherlands, are ahead of the 50-day moving average of 3.18 and 200-day moving average of 2.12.
