Capital Goods stocks were busy building back the gains that were lost on Tuesday as the sector was up 2.62% on Wednesday and Anaren Inc. (NASDAQ: ANEN) topped the list of biggest percentage gainers with a 9.12% spike to close at 19.87. Yesterday the company announced it had been selected to receive a contract valued in excess of $20.0 million from Thales-Alenia-Space (France) and today shares climbed as high as 20.36, a new 52-week high. Shares are comfortably ahead of the 50-day moving average of 17.51 and 200-day moving average of 15.26.
With the announcement that their third quarter results would be released next week shares in Ocean Power Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: OPTT) climbed 8.26% on Wednesday to close at 6.16. The company, which engages in the development and commercialization of proprietary systems that generate electricity by harnessing the renewable energy of ocean waves primarily in North America, Europe, and Australia, passed the 50-day moving average of 5.76 and 200-day moving average of 5.89.
Masco Corporation (NYSE: MAS), which manufactures, distributes, and installs home improvement and building products in North America and Europe, saw shares jump 7.06% on Wednesday to close at 11.68. The positive day pushed shares past the 50-day moving average of 11.68 but it still trails the 200-day moving average of 12.48.
Beazer Homes USA, Inc. (NYSE: BZH), which designs, builds, and sells single-family and multi-family homes in the United States, moved up 6.97% on the day to close at 4.45 with trading volume exceeding 3.1 million shares. The push forward moved shares past the 50-day moving average of 4.21 and 200-day moving average of 4.43.
American Defense Systems, Inc. (AMEX: EAG), which with its subsidiaries, designs and supplies transparent and opaque armor solutions for tactical and non-tactical transport vehicles, and construction equipment in the United States, saw shares climb 6.53% on Wednesday to close at 0.159. Shares are trying to come back from a 52-week low of 0.12 set last month but they remain below the 50-day moving average of 0.17 and 200-day moving average of 0.26.
